Earth Hour: 8.30 – 9.30 p.m. March 26

Earth Hour started in 2007 with 2.2 million people turning off all their non- essential lights in Sydney, Australia.  Three years later this event had captured a global audience in 126 countries; an astounding 90,000,000 people in the U.S. alone. Famous landmarks such as the Niagara Falls, the Golden Gate Bridge and Rome’s Coliseum all plunged into darkness as the world joined together to raise awareness of climate change issues.

I read one blog where the writer said she was going to light candles, have a glass of wine and watch a DVD……don’t know how her DVD is powered?  Maybe batteries — do they count?
