One of my Toronto friends recently took her kids to the Canadian Automotive Museum — it was a smash hit!  This weekend’s Doors Open Oshawa gives you a chance to look in for free, a great activity especially with rain in the forecast!

Beaver River Museum

The Beaverton Thorah Eldon Historical Society operates the Beaver River Museum which consists of an 1850’s log cabin, a turn of the century brick house, and a mid 19th century stone jail, furnished with local artifacts.  Annually, about 1000 people enjoy touring the buildings from late May to the end of September.  And there’s a bonus,  if your family history is linked to the area, their geneological resources are a great place to begin your research.

Enjoy Friday night concerts throughout the summer at the Thomas Foster Memorial, a striking building of marble and mosaics, inspired by the Taj Mahal.
