Music in the open air is magic.  There’s a lot of opportunity to indulge in all styles of music throughout Durham Region this summer, most are listed on Durham Tourism’s Event Calendar day by day.   For instance, Whitby’s Music in the Park series takes place at Rotary Centennial Park every Wednesday at 7.00 p.m.  Bring a lawn chair and you’re set!

Music by the Bay Festival on Canada Day

Want to be really cool this Canada Day?  The 5th Annual Music By The Bay Festival is Canada’s only festival spotlighting musicians under 21. The annual waterfront event takes place from noon to dusk at Millennium Square in Pickering.  And don’t miss a chance to experience World Class Blues in an intimate venue from September-June at the Music By The Bay Live Concert Series.

Robert McLaughlin Gallery – First Fridays

Friday, April 1st is the third in a new series called First Fridays, designed to appeal to music and art fans alike.  The lineup offers a diverse selection of musicians, this week it’s Mandi J Byrd & Hamilton Trading Company.   What’s more, it’s a free event with donations going to War Child to support their ongoing efforts in working with children all over the world to reduce poverty, to provide education and to defend their rights.   It’s a Friday night party for a good cause!
