We might have missed the opening celebration, yet there’s still plenty of time to celebrate Durham Region’s dramatic side.  The 3rd Annual Durham Theatre Festival showcases every aspect of theatre—venues, theatre groups, actors, writers, producers and provides newcomers with the opportunity to feature their talents.

Last year over 3,000 people attended, and new this year is Durham Improv, a Teen Improv Challenge April 21 in Port Perry, as well as a Songwriters Music Festival at the St. Francis Centre in Ajax on April 14.

The Driftwood Theatre Group is a magical outdoor theatre tradition.  Driftwood celebrates the work of William Shakespeare through its annual Bard’s Bus Tour, performing at parks and heritage sites.   This year they’re featuring the bewitching ”Macbeth”.   The bloody tale of a ruthless and ambitious Scottish soldier who seizes power with the help of his ambitious wife and a trio of witches.  ”Double, double, toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble”.
